Pick something you love and put all your energy into it. Forget about the distractions and focus on one goal. Believe that you can achieve it and work hard to get it done. You’ll thank yourself five years from now! That goes for your studies and your hobbies. Make the most of now, every day, and trust me, you’ll be proud you did it. I’m proud that I did it with NASSA!
I have known Natasha and her team since 2008 and it has been a huge source of wonder to see how much Newham All Star Sports Academy (NASSA) has grown and what an impact it has made, not just locally but nationally as well. NASSA has always put its young people and the communities they live in first. Through their Carry A Basketball Not A Blade programme, they have also helped to reduce youth crime. Newham is lucky to have NASSA within its borough.
The Metropolitan Police award we made to NASSA is not something that we give to everybody. I’m really impressed by the project. Clearly the young people are enjoying it, keeping themselves fit and getting the sport that they can take part in. It’s very well organised. To get 2,000 young people involved in this project is fantastic. They are getting some positive messages about not getting involved in knife crime and not getting involved in the gangs. I’m glad to see that Newham Police are getting involved and contributing. I’m really impressed and I wish it all the luck in the world. If we can help, we will do.
I am really proud of what NASSA are achieving. As Young Mayor of Newham it’s important all young people in the borough are safe, with positive interests and role models to inspire them. NASSA are not just about sport they are also about making sure that young people are educated about the dangers and repercussions that come from getting involved in gangs and violence. I am proud to support them on behalf of Newham’s young people.
NASSA is a fantastic initiative. It is obviously having an impact in the community in a positive way.
UEL is all about working with the community in civic engagement so working in partnership on projects like this is absolutely the thing we aim to do. We are very proud of our association with NASSA.
Newham All Star Sports Academy (NASSA) is doing incredibly valuable work in east London. It is leading the way in educating young people on the dangers of knife crime and giving them a pathway through sport to qualifications and employment. The NASSA young people are courteous, polite and respectful, which is a credit to how the charity conducts itself. I am proud to be associated with NASSA.
